Crystal Myhre was born and grew up in Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China, where she received a B.A. in Business Administration from Fu Jen Catholic University. She earned her M.A. in Education, with an emphasis on Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Kansas. She joined Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in fall 2018 and has taught courses in Intermediate Chinese (CHIN201 & CHIN202), Contemporary Chinese Texts I / II (CHIN380 / 381), and Chinese Popular Culture (CHIN320).
Prior to joining CWRU, she had teaching experience as a lecturer at her alma mater, Fu Jen Catholic University, and as a bilingual (Chinese-English) instructor at the National Defense Language Institute in Taiwan. A native of Chinese, she is very passionate about helping students of all ages achieve success in Chinese learning and have had opportunities to teach, build, and promote all levels of Chinese language and culture programs at various schools in the United States. She firmly believes that any foreign language teaching is to foster a fun, supportive, and creative learning environment, as well as to provide students with lifetime learning skills.
