Mark Hornyak (CWRU ’20) places first in 2020 Ohio Japanese Speech Contest and is accepted to the JET program

Mark Hornyak won first-place at the college level at the 2020 Japan-America Society of Central Ohio (JASCO) Japanese Speech Contest. The speech contest is held in Columbus, Ohio annually by JASCO and was held online in April, 2020. His speech was titled, “Military Rations: The Taste of a Nation.” Mark Hornyak was accepted to the JET program and sent to Toyama, Japan.

Yuhan Xia was selected as a finalist at the college level and presented a speech, “Habits That Bring Memories.”
Yinfen Xia, a Japanese major student, gave a speech titled, “My Travel Experience with Japanese Learning” at the advanced level.
