Japanese studies major student wins first place at Japanese speech contest

Three students from CWRU competed in the annual Japan-America Society of Central Ohio Online Japanese Speech Contest on March 20, 2022: Sydney Olney (Japanese studies major), Tianyin Chan (Japanese studies major) and Thang Tran (from the Advanced Japanese II class) Sydney Olney presented the speech, “Empowering Non-Binary/Transgender Youth in the Japanese Classroom” and won first place (Consul General’s Award).
