KORE 101. Elementary Korean I. 4 Units.
This course is designed for students who have little or no knowledge of Korean. This course aims to develop foundational reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills through meaningful communicative activities and tasks. Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to comprehend and carry on simple daily conversations and create simple sentences in the past, present, and future tenses. Students will learn how to introduce themselves, describe their surroundings, talk about daily lives, friends and relatives, and talk about past and future events.

KORE 102. Elementary Korean II. 4 Units.
This course is a continuation of Korean 101 and is designed to help students build communication skills in the Korean language. This course covers four language areas– listening, speaking, reading, and writing– needed for basic communication, while primacy is given to spoken language proficiency. Particular emphases will be placed on the ability to use Korean in a real-life-like situation/task with culturally appropriate and acceptable manners. Students are expected to actively participate in communicative exchanges with the instructor and classmates as well as be well prepared for the content of each class. This course assumes that students have the complete knowledge of Korean writing system, Hangul, and basic Korean grammar covered in Korean 101.

KORE 201. Intermediate Korean I. 4 Units.
This course is the first part of intermediate Korean. This course is designed for students who have completed the first-year Korean language courses (KORE 101 and 102) or for heritage/non-heritage students possessing equivalent Korean language proficiency. This course will integrate all language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and culture) into all instructional activities. Students are also encouraged to refine their intercultural competency through exposure to Korean culture and interaction with its people.
